In WoW, what profession should I take as a night elf druid?

I'm level 30, and continue to debate what should be my profession to be exactly I started the game a week ago. I'm thinking about mining and the jewelry. I hear its fun and you can do a lot of money. What you think? I will not do skinning and leatherworking, because my friend has hired these professions, so it would be difficult for us both to loot the same things.
